Taking the family out for a spin
With the family in town we thought it would be only proper that we let them experience something of the joys of sailing. First out was Mum. We wondered if she would be happy doing anything more than a quick motor out of the harbour but the see was calm and there was a gentle enough breeze to keep us moving without anything dramatic so we left the harbour and headed for Esquimalt. With the sail up and a sweet wind Mum actually settled in quite well and even took the helm for a while. On the way out and back we had the fun of dodging float planes as they went about their business. Got some nice footage of one taking off
In the afternoon, as the wind freshened we took the kids out. Same trip but we then started heading further West thinking we may head up to Trial island again. The sea was running a bit choppier though and the motion of the boat as we corkscrewed across the waves wasn't to everyone's liking. Soon enough we turned tail and headed back into the harbour
